Legal Administrative Assistant

Legal administrative assistants carry out the daily administrative activities of firms, offices of notaries, and companies. They perform activities such as writing mails, phone-answering and typing/keyboarding. They combine these activities with specific knowledge and understanding of the procedures and codes managed in legal business affairs.

Core workflow

  1. Prepare and distribute invoices to bill clients or pay account expenses.
  2. Prepare, proofread, or process legal documents, such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, or pretrial agreements.
  3. Mail, fax, or arrange for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials.
  4. Receive and place telephone calls.
  5. Schedule and make appointments.
  6. Make photocopies of correspondence, documents, and other printed matter.
  7. Organize and maintain law libraries, documents, and case files.
  8. Assist attorneys in collecting information such as employment, medical, and other records.
