energy-assessor Occupational skill for the role 'energy assessor' (also: energy savings advisor, EPC certification assessor, energy consumption advisor, energy performance certificate assessor, household energy use assessor, energy performance assessor). Use when the user asks for typical energy assessor work such as: Measure energy usage with devices such as data loggers, universal data recorders, light meters, sling psychrometers, psychrometric charts, flue gas analyzers, amp probes, watt meters, volt meters, thermometers, or utility meters.; Perform tests such as blower-door tests to locate air leaks.; Inspect or evaluate building envelopes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the energy consumption of each system.

Energy Assessor

Energy assessors determine the energy performance of buildings. They create an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which indicates what the estimated energy consumption of a property is. Furthermore they give advice on how to improve energy conservation.

Core workflow

  1. Measure energy usage with devices such as data loggers, universal data recorders, light meters, sling psychrometers, psychrometric charts, flue gas analyzers, amp probes, watt meters, volt meters, thermometers, or utility meters.
  2. Perform tests such as blower-door tests to locate air leaks.
  3. Inspect or evaluate building envelopes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the energy consumption of each system.
  4. Prepare audit reports containing energy analysis results or recommendations for energy cost savings.
  5. Analyze energy bills, including utility rates or tariffs, to gather historical energy usage data.
  6. Analyze technical feasibility of energy-saving measures, using knowledge of engineering, energy production, energy use, construction, maintenance, system operation, or process systems.
  7. Calculate potential for energy savings.
  8. Collect and analyze field data related to energy usage.
