Non-Destructive Testing Specialist

Non-destructive testing specialists carry out testing of vehicles, vessels, other manufactured objects, and construction structures without having to damage them. They use special equipment such as X-ray, ultrasound, radiographics, or infrared instruments to perform testing activities and report based on the observed results.

Core workflow

  1. Supervise or direct the work of non-destructive testing trainees or staff.

  4. Document non-destructive testing methods, processes, or results.
  5. Map the presence of imperfections within objects, using sonic measurements.

  7. Visually examine materials, structures, or components for signs of corrosion, metal fatigue, cracks, or other flaws, using tools and equipment such as endoscopes, closed-circuit television systems, and fiber optics.
  8. Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.
