Supply Chain Manager

Supply chain managers plan, manage and coordinate all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of supplies needed to run manufacturing operations from the acquisition of raw materials to the distribution of finished products. The supplies can be raw materials or finished products, and it can be for internal or external use. Moreover, they plan and commission all the activities needed to be performed in manufacturing plants and adjust operations to changing levels of demand for a company's products.

Core workflow

  1. Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
  2. Diagram supply chain models to help facilitate discussions with customers.
  3. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
  4. Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, or to discuss production forecasts or changes.
  5. Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
  6. Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers.
  7. Design or implement plant warehousing strategies for production materials or finished products.
  8. Confer with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
