# Communication Scientist
Communication scientists research the different aspects of the planning, collecting, creating, organizing, preserving, using, evaluating and exchanging information through verbal or non-verbal communication. They study the interactions between groups, individuals, and individuals with technologies (robots).
## Core workflow
1. Keep abreast of developments and technological advances in the communication field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
2. Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
3. Prepare course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
4. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
5. Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as public speaking, media criticism, and oral traditions.
6. Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others.
7. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
8. Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.

Von Markt- und Meinungsforschung bis ÖffentlichkeitsarbeitIm Beratungsbereich prüfen sie z.B. innerbetriebliche Kommunikationsstrukturen von Unternehmen und erarbeiten Optimierungsvorschläge. In der Publizistik verfassen sie Beiträge oder Reportagen für Verlage, Fernsehen, Hörfunk, Internet oder andere Medien und analysieren, ob und wie die jeweiligen Zielgruppen erreicht werden und welche Art der Information und Unterhaltung von den Empfängern gewünscht wird. Im Verlagswesen betreuen sie Autoren und lektorieren und bearbeiten Manuskripte. Für eine Tätigkeit im Journalismus ist meist zusätzlich zum abgeschlossenen Studium ein Volontariat oder eine entsprechende praktische journalistische Qualifikation nötig.
In der Markt- und Meinungsforschung erarbeiten Kommunikationswissenschaftler/innen Fragestellungen z.B. zur Wirkung von Medien und Meinungsbildern und legen das Vorgehen für die Erhebung und die statistische Aufbereitung fest. Sie weisen Interviewer/innen in die jeweilige Studie ein, werten die Interviewergebnisse aus und bereiten sie auf.
