# Energy Engineer
Energy engineers design new, efficient and clean ways to produce, transform, and distribute energy to improve environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. They deal with the extraction of energy through natural resources, such as oil or gas, or renewable and sustainable sources, such as wind or solar power.
## Core workflow
1. Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives.
2. Perform thermal, stress, or cost reduction analyses for solar systems.
3. Develop standard operation procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work.
4. Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring.
5. Perform computer simulation of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency.
6. Develop design specifications and functional requirements for residential, commercial, or industrial solar energy systems or components.
7. Create plans for solar energy system development, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
8. Create electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
