Forestry Inspector

Forestry inspectors monitor forestry operations to ensure that workers and their activities comply with proper legislation and standards. They perform inspections to examine operations, wages, costs and health and safety measures. Forestry inspectors also analyse and report on their findings.

Core workflow

  1. Relay messages about emergencies, accidents, locations of crew and personnel, and fire hazard conditions.
  2. Direct crews working on firelines during forest fires.
  3. Estimate sizes and characteristics of fires, and report findings to base camps by radio or telephone.
  4. Administer regulations regarding sanitation, fire prevention, violation corrections, and related forest regulations.
  5. Extinguish smaller fires with portable extinguishers, shovels, and axes.
  6. Locate forest fires on area maps, using azimuth sighters and known landmarks.
  7. Maintain records and logbooks.
  8. Examine and inventory firefighting equipment, such as axes, fire hoses, shovels, pumps, buckets, and fire extinguishers, to determine amount and condition.
