pastry-chef Occupational skill for the role 'pastry chef' (also: pastry cook, baker, confectioner, glacier, confectionary chef, confiseur). Use when the user asks for typical pastry chef work such as: Observe color of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, humidity, or conveyor speeds accordingly.; Set oven temperatures, and place items into hot ovens for baking.; Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery.

Pastry Chef

Pastry chefs are responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting desserts, sweet products and bakery products.

Core workflow

  1. Observe color of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, humidity, or conveyor speeds accordingly.
  2. Set oven temperatures, and place items into hot ovens for baking.
  3. Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery.
  4. Measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or icings, using scales or graduated containers.
  5. Roll, knead, cut, or shape dough to form sweet rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, or other products.
  6. Place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets, and bake in production ovens or on grills.
  7. Check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met.
  8. Adapt the quantity of ingredients to match the amount of items to be baked.
