Vor allem Solisten und Solistinnen, aber auch Chorsänger/innen in Theater, Musical, Oper oder Operette müssen ihre Rollen nicht nur mit stimmlichen, sondern auch mit darstellerischen Mitteln gestalten. Dabei ist die Stimmgattung - Sopran, Alt, Tenor, Bariton oder Bass - für die zu verkörpernden Charaktere und damit das jeweilige Rollenfach entscheidend. Häufig haben sie bereits im Studium außer Gesang auch darstellerische Techniken und teilweise Tanz gelernt, um Opern- oder Musicalpartien mit Leben füllen zu können.
