biochemical-engineer Occupational skill for the role 'biochemical engineer' (also: enzyme engineer, biochemical engineering adviser, biochemical research engineer, biochemical process engineer, biochemical engineering specialist, tissue engineer). Use when the user asks for typical biochemical engineer work such as: Develop lab scale models of industrial scale processes, such as fermentation.; Provide technical or scientific guidance to technical staff in the conduct of biofuels research or development.; Prepare, or oversee the preparation of, experimental plans for biofuels research or development.

Biochemical Engineer

Biochemical engineers research on the field of life science striving for new discoveries. They convert those findings into chemical solutions that can improve the wellbeing of society such as vaccines, tissue repair, crops improvement and green technologies advances such as cleaner fuels from natural resources.

Core workflow

  1. Develop lab scale models of industrial scale processes, such as fermentation.
  2. Provide technical or scientific guidance to technical staff in the conduct of biofuels research or development.
  3. Prepare, or oversee the preparation of, experimental plans for biofuels research or development.
  4. Prepare biofuels research and development reports for senior management or technical professionals.
  5. Design or conduct applied biodiesel or biofuels research projects on topics, such as transport, thermodynamics, mixing, filtration, distillation, fermentation, extraction, and separation.
  6. Conduct experiments on biomass or pretreatment technologies.
  7. Conduct experiments to test new or alternate feedstock fermentation processes.
  8. Analyze data from biofuels studies, such as fluid dynamics, water treatments, or solvent extraction and recovery processes.
